A cyborg is a (currently only hypothetical) functional blend of biological organism and mechanical contraption that functions as a whole. Of course, people with various implants exist already, but is it possible to create a being with only a human brain and a mechanical body, with no other biological elements?
This might be possible if a brain can be transplanted and somehow reconnected to the requisite inputs and outputs, which science fiction writers have explored before.
But how about cloning a brain de novo from "scratch", then implanting it into a machine at an early developmental stage. Could such a brain develop and learn normally, given inputs from artificial eyes, ears, muscles, tactile sensors, etc? Would it develop human abilities to walk, observe, think, and talk?
